We believe that the ability to read is critical to personal freedom, the preservation of strong families, and the maintenance of a democratic society. Our society is dependent on an informed citizenry, and the ability to read is necessary to be informed. As our culture becomes more complex and dependent on technology, literacy becomes ever more basic to survival and the achievement of one’s potential.
